It’s the 10th anniversary of the beloved animated series Over the garden walland to celebrate this, a stop-motion short film has been released.
Every year, as the leaves begin to turn brown, orange, red and gold, there’s one thought that comes to every Halloween fan’s mind: It’s Over the Garden Wall season. Fall (or autumn as you call it in the US), when the weather is actually pleasant, is definitely the most enjoyable season, and a miniseries like Over the Garden Wall is the perfect addition. Luckily, creator Patrick McHale knew that there can be too much of a good thing, and there has never been another season of it since its release, but this year that has changed somewhat, all to celebrate the show’s 10th anniversary.

Cartoon Network announced this earlier this yearand to mark the occasion, Wallace and Gromit creator Aardman has made a stop-motion short film of Over the Garden Wall, and as today is the tenth anniversary, the short has now been released. You can watch it above and I really recommend you check it out, it’s absolutely amazing. All the puppets have a wooden look to them, almost a Pinocchio-esque quality, which is funny considering McHale co-wrote the stop-motion Pinocchio film with Guillermo del Toro.

I’ll admit, I can’t quite tell if the dialogue is all new, as there’s definitely an archival voice from the ever-crazy Greg, but all the animation is new, allowing us to see the characters from the entire miniseries. in a beautiful new light.
If any of you are experiencing Over the Garden Wall for the first time because of this short film, I really recommend you check it out. It’s only 10 episodes and they’re 10 minutes each, so it’s an easy, light-hearted movie. view, and one that you will quickly discover every time you see the leaves falling from the trees.
